This training provides background information and data on opioid use, Philadelphia's drug supply, and overdoses in our city. There is also a detailed description of how to recognize and respond to an opioid-related overdose with naloxone, or Narcan. The training is approximately 1.5 hours with an additional 15 minutes for questions.
You can choose to have Narcan discreetly mailed to you after the training. We aim to prioritize our Narcan supply for those with the least access to Narcan and those most likely to witness an overdose. If you have the resources to acquire Narcan on your own, please consider going to your local pharmacy to get it.

Caring for People with Xylazine-Associated Wounds: Trainings for Clinicians
The Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) and Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), in collaboration with the Center for Forensic Science Research & Education (CSFRE), are providing virtual trainings to clinicians and non-clinicians on best practices for caring for individuals with xylazine-associated wounds. These trainings are offered at no-cost to attendees and can be used to meet various continuing education requirements.
Anyone who interacts with people who use drugs can benefit from learning about how to care for people with xylazine-associated wounds.
These trainings will be offered in two separate two-hour sessions for individuals and organizations who work in Pennsylvania. The first live webinar on October 23, 2024 from 1-3pm, will be for non-clinicians, and the second live webinar on November 6, 2024 from 1-3pm, will be for clinicians.
*Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS) who complete this training may utilize credits to meet certification/re-certification training requirements. A training certificate will be provided to all attendees who complete the post-training assessment.

Stimulant Symposium
Join us on October 18, 2024 from 9 - 4pm for a symposium on: Responding to Stimulant Use Disorders: Short and Long-term Approaches. Participants will be able to:
Identify populations at elevated risk for the development of stimulant use disorders.
Recognize the signs and symptoms of overamping.
Recall at least 2 evidence-based behavioral health interventions to treat stimulant use disorders.
Name at least 3 medicines with evidence for the treatment of stimulant use disorders.
Describe strategies for implementation of evidence-based treatments for stimulant use disorders in varying healthcare settings.
Describe strategies for implementation of harm reduction practices to reduce negative health consequences from stimulant use.

Recovery Walk
We partnered with HFP’s Substance Use Response Guidance and Education (SURGE) to join their team at the 2024 Recovery Walk! The walk, which benefits The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania, Inc., will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Marine Parade Grounds in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. A free team t-shirt will be given to the first 20 people who register for the SURGE/SUPHR team.
